Congratulations on your new baby to be! So much to prepare and plan before your newborn arrives, including the perfect images of your precious, little one! Here are some of the most frequently asked questions I hear when planning a newborn session. Hope this helps to make things a little less complicated for you during this exciting time!
When should I book my session?
It is best to contact me during your second trimester so that we can get you on the calendar. Newborns are typically photographed between 5-14 days old so I will hold your place on the calendar based upon your due date and we will set a firm session date after he/she arrives. If your baby has already arrived, please contact me as soon as possible so that we can plan a session for when your little one is their sleepiest.
How does scheduling a newborn session work?
When you contact me wanting to book your newborn session, I pencil you into the calendar based upon your due date. Then once your little one arrives, call/text/email me so that we can set a session date that is within 5-14 days after birth. I keep my schedule flexible for newborns as they tend arrive on their own timeline, not necessarily on their due date.
Where does our newborn session take place? At your studio or our home?
The first few days with a new baby are a special time adjusting as a new family, so I bring everything to you! No need to worry about getting dressed and packed up for your newborn photos. I bring all of the props, outfits, accessories, and lighting so you can continue to recouperate in the comfort of your own home.
How do I prepare for my session?
After booking your session, I will forward you a link to my client questionnaire. This helps me to plan and know exactly what you are looking for during your session. We will then discuss wardrobe styling, newborn feedings, and any special color/prop requests.
Do you have all the props for my newborn session?
Yes! I have tons of hats, headbands, wraps, baskets, and custom made little outfits for your session. I love to design special outfits for my little clients! I am also happy to incorporate anything sentimental, just let me know.
I saw a photo on Pinterest that I like, can you copy it?
I always encourage parents to let me know ideas that they may have, and love to try new things. However, there are some poses that I feel just aren’t safe for your baby. Your newborn's safety and comfort are always my number one priority, but I can usually create a similar look. Feel free to look through my newborn galleries for ideas.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Jennifer Heinz Photography, LLC is fully licensed and insured.
What kind of qualifications or certifications do you have?
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Design from Philadelphia University, I worked in the apparel industry for 15 years. During that time, we welcomed four amazing kids into our family. I was fortunate enough to continue my design work while being at home with them. In 2016, I officially launched my own business. Since then I have continued to take newborn and family photography courses. I am certified in newborn and child cpr/first aid and a member of the Professional Photographers Association.
What is the best way to contact you?
Email is definitely the best way to get in touch! You can click the contact me tab or email me at info@jenniferheinz.com. I am quick to respond to emails and you will get a response asap. My family is always my number one priority so sometimes it isn’t always easy to answer the phone in the evening or weekends. Email is super simple for me to answer any questions that you might have.
May we take pictures during our session?
It’s such a special time, so I certainly don’t mind anyone taking cell phone shots during the session.
How do I book a session?
Contact me to schedule your session and make sure that the date you had in mind is available. The session fee is required to hold your date on the calendar. However if you need to cancel for some reason, you can just apply it towards a future session.
What types of payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash, check, and credit cards through my website.
I have a friend who’s expecting. Do you offer gift certificates?
Of course! You are welcome to purchase a certificate good for a session fee or a dollar amount to be used towards prints/albums. I am also happy to work with a group of family/friends that would like to gift a new mom-to-be a newborn session. Contact me and we can arrange the details!
When and how will I receive my photos?
After your session, your images will be hand edited and retouched. I take time to ensure that each and every one is perfect! Your private gallery will be uploaded within 2 weeks for you to view online. You will receive an email with the link and gallery password when the images are ready to be viewed. From your gallery website, you will be able to view all the images from your session. You can then decide which images you would like to purchase. You can select from digital images, professional quality prints, canvases, and albums directly from your gallery.
How do I order an album of my images?
Once you select and purchase which album size you would like, we can begin working on the layout. I custom design each album based upon your favorite images. You will mark your favorite poses within your gallery and then I will create a layout just for you. The sample album will then be uploaded so that you can make sure it is perfect before it is actually completed.
Can I order prints or wall canvases through you?
Absolutely! Through your image gallery you will be linked directly through my professional print lab. You can select from a variety of sizes to hang on your walls for years to come.
